Blacks = Endangered Species?

So just last month February 25th to be exact I had posted a picture that was on a billboard downtown that said, “The most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb.” Many People were outraged with this so it was taken down the next day. Now there have been two more billboards put up( shown below). It’s in Chicago but Arizona became ‘the first state in the nation to outlaw abortions performed on the basis of the race or gender of the fetus.’  The bill says it makes it a felony for doctors or other medical professionals to perform an abortion in order to help parents choose their offspring on the basis of race or gender. The law does not punish the woman having the abortion.

The question is who is it up to the mother or the state that chooses if she can get an abortion or not. This debate is probably going to be an issue that is going to come up a lot because if there are more billboards like this that are going to be put up all over the country is will continue to stir up issues. I did visit the website that is on the poster to find out more information about this organization to get more insight on their message behind this. I think this is important for both black women and black men to know because it involves what others think about our culture in the present year 2011

by nature builder; scientific

“The Black man by nature is a builder, he is scientific by nature, he’s mathematical by nature. Rhythm is mathematics, harmony is mathematics…you’ve gotten away from yourself. But when you are in tune with yourself, your very nature has harmony, has rhythm, has mathematics. You can build. You don’t ever need anybody to teach you how to build. You play music by ear. You dance by how you’re feeling.” -by Malcolm X

Interview w/ King Gamble

1. Who is your favorite rapper?

I actually have different categories for artist I like and take interest in. I listen to music from all directions (flow, lyrical content, hooks, bars/punch lines…etc.) Right now it’s a toss-up between Jay-z and Kanye. But, my favorite rapper of all time is Biggie of course.

2. What is better indie or mainstream labels?

That’s another interesting question. Both have their own perks, pros and cons. I would have to say an indie label because of the way the industry is now. Mainstream labels now put deals on the table that do not benefit their artists. It’s selfish “360 deals” so the label gets all the money and you get left with 1000 shows just to make some pocket money for yourself. Now if you go indie you probably won’t make as much money as mainstream but you would gross more overall.

3. Where do u see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years I see myself still involved in music. Signed or not signed music is my passion.

4. What’s your ultimate goal in life?

My ultimate goal is for me to be successful. Whether or not it’s in music, I want to leave the earth known for at least one great thing rather than nothing at all.

5. How much do u think u have changed since the 1st time u decided to start rapping?

I’ve changed drastically!! 1st time rapping for anyone wouldn’t be the best time. Anyone would be lying if they say it was. But you just have to have patience and practice your craft. Continue switching up flows ’til you’re comfortable, find your voice and beats that fit your style.

I honestly can say I’ve changed almost 200 percent since I 1st began rapping.

6. What else are u good at?

Hmm… I’m a very versatile person. I played almost every sport you could think of. I also have certified certificates in business marketing and computer technology.

7. Is it best to have a backup plan when it comes to music?

I do think it’s a good idea to have a backup plan when trying to get into the music business. The industry is very cut throat and some people aren’t built for it.

So many artists come and go. Well let me say “acts” because everyone is not an artist.

8. What do u think the industry is lacking in? How can u and other artist change that?

The industry is lacking passion, drive and hunger right now. Everyone is just trying to fit in and ride whatever trend is live right now.

As far as what can be done to change it. I just say good music. None of this dance.. “1 step… 2 step” nonsense.

Last but not least, I say unity. Artists really need to stop being so greedy and selfish and help each other out. That’s a long shot but truthfully that’s what the game needs. Young and GOOD talent moving as one, rather than trying to bash each other just to get ahead.

Thanks for your time and for the interview. I’ll keep you in touch with the future releases of music, photos, and videos.

Peace… Easy…

“in the kingdom of the blind men, those who are blessed with one eye are kings”

Yesterday I did a shoot with a friend of mine rapper King Gamble. This was the 2nd shoot I’ve done but not the last. He had 3 looks and we went to 3 different locations uptown. I have worked on my editing skills (go me lol) and my eye for a great picture. This year is all about perfecting my crafts. So watch out world. YesMoneWrites Photography is coming soon #girlpower. A special thanks to King Gamble for the opportunity.

ironic

Since 1 of the 5 classes I’m taking is journalism our assignment is to look @ the news every day. It has always been a habit of mine to read or watch the news so it’s a piece of cake :). But yesterday night I was on yahoo and I saw an article titled Rare photos of Hitler’s wife surface. So Eva Braun becomes Hitler’s wife about 40 hours before they committed suicide. She was his lover but they kept it hush for a while.  Recent pictures of her show her dressed in black face as Al Jolson in The Jazz Singer (1927); her on a boat with Hilter and other pictures of her on a regular day.  After seeing these pictures I wanted to know more about her. In school I remember learning about Adolf Hitler and how he was the master mind behind the Holocaust. What’s so ironic to me is that after they committed suicide their bodies were cremated. After all the Jewish people he murdered in concentration camps and cremated their bodies, he went through the same thing. How ironic is that??

Too Young To Be In Charge

To be 20, a woman, a mother, college student and police chief of Mexico..I give Marisol Valles Garcia her props. When no one else wanted the job,she took it. Despite the violence surrounding this country, she is up for the challenge. I admire her for her courage. She makes me want to work harder towards by goals because at the end of the day, we can do anything we put our minds too. This is a very empowering message to young women everywhere
