Ayyy Ladies!

Tonight I watched “Joyful Noise,” with my mom. It’s a movie about a gospel choir featuring Queen Latifah.  She is such a good actress and she is the face of cover girl. People forget that she is a singer and a rapper also. How could we? When she made songs like, “Ladies First.” So I decided to post my top 3 songs/videos that are inspiring to women.

“Ladies First,” by Queen Latifah feat. Monie Love

“I’m Every Woman,” by Whitney Houston  (R.I.P) She was so talented.

Last but not least, “Run the World (Girls),” by Beyonce.

“Bitch Bad, Woman Good, Lady Better..”

On November 2nd 2011, I wrote an article called, “Definition of a Bad Female” (link : https://expressionofsound.wordpress.com/2011/11/02/ba/). Since then rap songs have continued to call women “bad bitches.” Even among my peers I see a lot of people quoting the song, “My bitch bad, looking like a bag of money.” The reason why I’m bringing this up again is because one of my favorite rappers Lupe Fiasco has a new song & video out. It is called, “Bad Bitch.” At first when my friend Laura asked me if I heard it, my reaction was “Oh no Lupe, has sold out!” But I was wrong. The song & video is exactly the kind of message young people need to hear. I don’t want to get into it too much because it is deep. Here is the video below, I hope a lot of women & men rethink the phrase, “Bad Bitch.”
